ASATTAHIR Foundation commended the Executive Governor of Sokoto state, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his assent on the Sokoto state Child Protection Law. The event took place today, the 22nd day November 2021.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Foundation Chairman Aliyu Sidi Attahiru and made available to the press.

The Governor’s assent to the finalized Bill by the State Assembly, was done in a low-key ceremony at the Government House in Sokoto. The ceremony was attended by children, under whose watch the governor appended his signature to the Law.
The Law is a reviewed domesticated version of the National Child Rights Act, which received inputs from the diverse groups of influential opinion and community leaders. The religious, traditional and community leaders contributed immensely in shaping the Bill to suit the cultural setting of the people of the state.
This milestone has been achieved as a result of combined efforts of child rights advocates and activists, CSOs NGOs and development partners. Some of these stakeholders were in attendance.
